Hey pet lovers! This is Mishiu. I had him for 14 years. He was such a warm, friendly, soft and loving presence and has enriched my life in every way possible.
But unfortunately, our furry friends don't live as long as us. When he passed away, I felt like all the goodness he brought into my life died as well.
As I was processing the grief, I realized that being an artist has given me the ability to bring back a piece of him into my life again.
So I worked away to capture him in a painting. As I worked on the portrait, I felt I was working away on my grief as well. As the painting got clearer, I felt my grief gently shifted as I captured his essence in my painting. Though the longing will always be there. I feel a sense of joy having him here with me in this portrait.
Being able to always remember his essence and seeing the picture everyday has been therapeutic for me. I placed it where I look at it everyday where I can absorbed the soft, gentle loving essence he left behind. It feels like he is still part of my life, just in another way.
I would like to share this experience with others. As like many pet owners, you know all too well that our furry best friends wont be there forever. As much as we wish they could! When the times comes it wont be easy. But you can have a piece of them with us as we move forward.
